Here we go September! This clock piece is from a section of a self portrait painting I did years ago. The self portrait never felt quite right, but I always liked the red clock. I would love to paint an old grandfather clock one of these days…

I grew up with the sound of my grandparent’s clock chiming out our hours. Time and I have always had a complicated relationship. Emotionally it is the thing I struggle with the most - the passage of time, the way time flies, not being able to hold onto time, the relationship between time and memory. And I feel it even more in the fall as the seasons change and the undercurrent of nostalgia begins to fill the air. But, what are we do do except to pull out the wool blankets, linger longer with a cup of tea, and notice the slowly changing leaves? So here I am, practicing noticing the world a little more closely today and being grateful to be alive and here in this moment.
