Hello friends! It’s September!

On Tuesday mornings, a dear friend and I always walk around the park near our house no matter the weather. Today, as we met outside at 6am, it was the first time the air really felt like fall. I had to run back inside to get a sweater because there was that delicious chill undertone outside. Later, as we walked, we noticed the first hints of gold showing up in the cottonwoods, the geese stretching their wings above us, and the way the grass still held on to the sparkle of morning dew. The light itself feels different, more slanted, more tender somehow.

I found this vintage etching of a forest of oak trees on the Met website and layered it with painterly fall colors to create, what is for me, the feeling of September colors. To me, September always carries this mix of beginnings and endings, back-to-school sharpened pencils and new routines, alongside the slow letting-go of summer’s brightness.

September is a gateway into the fleeting beauty of autumn. A pause between the hurry of summer and the hush of winter.

I hope you find moments to savor the beauty of it all, whether it’s a steaming mug on a chilly porch morning, the sound of crunching leaves under your shoes, or the golden light filtering through your window.
