Happy November 1st!
I am sitting cozied up by our fireplace with a cup of strawberry green tea in my hand while Tim is watching football in the other room. Everyone is tired, but happy, after the wonderful, sweet chaos of Halloween last night and I am reflecting on how much I love November. There is a quiet bass note to this season, a resonance that helps me catch my breath - the nostalgia of home, making things from scratch, savoring the slow, watching last leaves turn to brown, recipes shared, tables set, and anticipating the first snowflakes. It’s a sweet symphony of rituals and music that sings of home and thankfulness. We started listening to our Thanksgiving music mix this morning, and Harriet commented on how she loved it, but that all of the songs had an undercurrent of melancholy. I agree, and maybe that’s why my artist heart loves this season so much. To me this life and world is so beautiful that it’s painful. It’s that undercurrent of loss and the fleetingness of time stirred up and baked into the overflowing joy and gratitude for it all.
Anyway, just littles musings from my armchair by the window, in this rare moment of quiet in my house. Thanks for being part of this woven life with me.
Love always,Betony
P.S. Here is a link to our November playlist if you want to give it a listen. It’s a good one.
