Wild Village is a permanent play installation at the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance located next to the Conservation Carousel.
Wild Village is an immersive, sculptural play experience designed and built for the Denver Zoo, completed in May 2025. This vibrant installation features a collection of whimsical, hand-crafted playhouses that invite children to explore, imagine, and connect with nature through creative play.
Each structure in the village is uniquely themed to reflect Colorado’s native ecosystems and animal habitats, blending artistic storytelling with interactive design. From cozy burrows to treetop hideaways, Wild Village encourages curiosity, discovery, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
As lead artist and project coordinator, I oversaw the full creative process—from concept sketches and material selection to construction details and on-site assembly. Nick Ferro of Ferro Works and I worked in close collaboration with the zoo’s education and exhibits teams, to ensure every element was safe, durable, and inspiring for young visitors.
Wild Village stands as a joyful, tactile environment where art and conservation come together—turning play into a meaningful, memory-making adventure.
